Art Council -- Arts Day
|
|
The member driven Sarasota Arts Council works passionately towards building support,appreciation and participation for the arts and culture in our area.
Founded in 1986, the council has raised and submitted over $10 million in grants to area artists and arts organizations. The council enhances the connection between the community and regional arts and culture by strengthening cooperation among business, community and elected leaders, audiences and the public. This is achieved through arts advocacy, education and arts appreciation events.
The Sarasota County Arts Council produces Arts Day, our annual celebration of the arts, showcasing the talents of nearly 1,000 local visual and performing artists for 18,000 residents and visitors in downtown Sarasota. |

Baseball
|
|
Baseball has been a year-round tradition in Sarasota for players and spectators since 1924. It began when Sarasota built its first spring training stadium, Payne Park, and John Ringling helped recruit the New York Giants to hold spring training here. Over the years, major and minor leagues have held spring training seasons downtown and developed rising talent at Twin Lakes Park Complex throughout the year. |

Childrens Garden

The Childrens Garden, with more than 150 varieties of plants, is a 1 1/2 acre enclave of fun laying beneath towering bearded oak trees. Kids of all ages will get a delight walking through a maze of passion vines, magical domes made out of old soda
bottles and Mint Mountain made of tires filled
with soil and mint. Just beyond is Safari Land which includes a tree fort with a slide and swinging
bridge. |

Classic Car Museum

This unique collection of antique automobiles spans over 100 years. It contains such rarities as John and Mable Ringling's fleet of Rolls Royce's,John Lennon's, psychedelic, 1956 Bentley (registration mark 222 APL) and Paul McCartney's beloved Mini Cooper. Classic and muscle cars are on display side by side, including Don Garlits, dragster number two! The museum features such vintage automobiles as the Auburn, Bentley, Cadillac station wagon (one of only 5 ever made), DeLorean, Edsel, Ferrari, etc.all immaculately restored. |

Film Festival

The Film Festival Mission is to present unique and quality cinema in a festival atmosphere for the purpose of educating, stimulating and entertaining audiences.
The Festival will support and encourage filmmakers by supplying essential networking opportunities and open dialogue with intelligent, creative and inquisitive consumers of film. The Festival will attract audiences from local, national and international markets as well as promote Sarasota, Manatee and surrounding Gulf Coast Communities as cultural centers which contribute to the financial and cultural success of our region. |
