Lido Key has a large public beach with pleanty of parking right off St. Armands Circle and a beautiful public park at its southern tip. The key is primarily residential with a mixture of large waterfront mansions, condominium towers and interior vacation homes.
St. Armands Circle is THE shopping destination for Southwest Florida. St. Armands is literally a circle and it is surrounded by some of the finest shopping and dining in Florida. The Circle includes shops for clothing, jewelry, art, shoes and even cigars. The dining choices are endless from some 4 star restaurants to laid back alfresco dining, and ice cream to top it all off. A simple walk for window shopping is even a popular pastime. The center of the Circle is the sight of art festivals, jazz concerts and boat shows.
The northern end of Lido Key is home to the world famous Mote Marine Laboratory which houses some of the finest marine research facilities in the world. For the public, there is also an aquarium and learning center. Ken Thompson Park is located at the end of the peninsula down the street from Mote and has spectacular views of the Causeway and downtown Sarasota and is an access point for water-based activities.
