Whether you are looking for the ultimate in golf course community living or consider yourself a "duffer", there is golf here in Sarasota to suit your needs. Most of our golf courses were designed by some of the greatest golf course architects of this generation.
Sarasota is an area with a strong Scottish heritage and golf started as an important part of the community when it was originally settled. The new City park near the justice center was once a municipal golf course. That distinction is now held by the Bobby Jones Golf Complex off Fruitville Road. This now the only publically owned golf course in the area. But there are plenty of places to play at some of the areas private courses that offer public access.
Many of the private golf course communities will allow for membership to those not living in their community, while others require it. Many are funded with daily fees, others have equity ownership.
