This is generally defined as the area south of the Downtown Core to Stickney Point Road (but we will have the West of Trail area in its own Community). There are very few "gated" isolated communities - most neighborhoods have grown over the years right along with Sarasota. Natives will probably have attended school in this area - the old Sarasota High School, Phillippi Shores Elementary, Brookside Middle School or Riverview High School.
The area's largest public hospital, and one of the highest rated hospitals in the US, is Sarasota Memorial. This is a large hospital complex that includes doctor's offices, outpatient facilities and ancillary services.
The Tamiami Trail is a major roadway through the entire county and it is along The Trail that we find most of our commercial activities. In the Central part of Sarasota is the Westfield Southgate Mall featuring a Macy's, Dillards, Talbot's, William's Sonoma and other boutique stores.
