When we met (at the YMCA day care our children attended), I was the manager of advertising, marketing, and public relations for Florida's oldest family business, the Albritton Fruit Company and Laura was a real estate paralegal. Laura got her real estate license in 1997 and I got mine 5 years later. Together we have sold millions of dollars in real estate, but more importantly, we have built a successful business based on our relationships with our clients, many of whom have become our friends.
I am originally from Baldwin, Long Island. Although my background is in marketing and advertising I have found greater satisfaction (in what started out as a hobby back in 1987) in buying homes, making renovations, leasing them, and helping others do the same. Wet behind the ears, I had bought my first fixer upper on Longboat Key back in 1987 for $70K while managing a condominium on Siesta Key. This gave me hands on knowledge about rentals, home repairs, and the real estate market. I have followed it closely ever since and have always loved to share my knowledge with others. One day my wife said "I'm getting very busy and need some help, with everything you know, you would make a great agent" I said "I'm not a salesman" and she said "people don't want to be sold, they want someone who knows the area, can answer all their questions, and negotiate on their behalf. It's the same thing you are doing now for yourself." I said, Ill give it a shot" 5 years later I have accomplished being able to earn a living doing what I love to do best and still have time for my family and friends. It's Great!
My wife Laura is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. Her background runs the gamut of real estate - mortgage lending, construction management and real estate law. She has been an elected member of the local School Board and stays politically active in the community, as well as serving as an Executive Board member of the local Association of Realtors. She is a certified instructor for a state required real estate agent ethics course and serves as the chairperson of the Board's Governmental Affairs committee. Laura also has been appointed by the Florida Senate to a seat on the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida, and is on the Board of Directors for FBLA/PBL and Take Stock in Children. We also have three kids who constantly keep us busy, two dogs and a rabbit.
